I make these mainly for my toddler, so this recipe is safe for kids and uses all organic ingredients! It’s also very easy to make. If I’d known how easy it was to make the bath bombs, I might have tried it sooner!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup + 1 teaspoon. baking soda
3/4 cup citric acid
2 tablespoons. Bentonite
3 tablespoons. Jojoba oil
1 tablespoon. Coconut oil (melted)
1 tablespoon. Your choice of beet powder
10 drops of essential oil (I used this child-safe skin soother blend)
Spray bottle and water
Round moulds (I bought a set of 3 sizes and used 1.8 inch moulds)
Instructions:
In a large bowl mix the dry ingredients: 1 cup baking soda with citric acid, bentonite clay and beet powder.
In a smaller bowl add the liquid ingredients: jojoba oil, coconut oil and essential oils; mix well. Add 1 teaspoon. Add the baking soda to the liquid mixture and continue to stir until well combined.
Add the liquid mixture to the large bowl containing the dry ingredients.
Mix with a spoon or your hands until combined, rubbing the mixture with your hands until the colour and smell are consistent throughout.
Using a spray bottle filled with water, spray the mixture 4-5 times, then continue mixing and rubbing between your hands.
Continue to repeat this spraying and mixing process 4-5 times until the consistency resembles wet sand.
Pack the mixture tightly into the mould. Add more as needed and continue pressing until the shower gel cannot be packed any tighter.
Remove from the moulds immediately and leave to dry on a baking tray lined with tinfoil/parchment paper for at least 24 hours.
Verdict:
Nate loves these bath bombs. Using the 1.8 inch mould is definitely the right choice. I think these bombs are the perfect size for bathing a child and they don’t drown in water or make him smell like he’s been dipped in essential oils.
